Who would have thought in 2020 we would be “hibernating” in our homes, gathering supplies, boarders closed and the world would be in lock down.!

The hospitality and events companies have been hit hard – ﬂower farmers ,our suppliers and the many talented ﬂorists.

I encourage everyone to continue buying ﬂowers! During this diﬃcult time, do not forget those who will still be celebrating births, Birthdays, momentous occasions, feelings of love and support of grievances and hardships.

Safe and Sanitised delivery! Papy, our amazing driver, will execute the following safety precautions:

Will not use public transport, he will self
drive to our Studio in Woodstock.
Before a delivery, he will sanitise his hands, sanitise the truck door handle and steering wheel. Before delivery takes place, he will wear a pair of clean, surgical gloves, therefor avoiding any contact with the recipient of the delivery.
There will be no signing for deliveries made, the driver will keep a record of whom received the flowers, should it be someone other than the recipient.

Safe and Sanitised studio!

Our beautiful studio, has all the necessary hand sanitisers, each florist has their own soap, therefor no sharing, clean surgical gloves, will be worn when working with flower or hamper orders. We have reduced the amount of studio staff to one florist, a receptionist to receive online or telephonic orders and our driver.
Everyones well being and health is being monitored on a daily basis and all staff will receive immune boasters.
Willem and I will use this time to brain storm, design and research various new trends, concepts and work on enquiries. This includes our exciting new space, Aspen & Co creative studio which will include various ﬂoral courses.

We are all in this together, Work as a team, win as a team. We continue to oﬀer a top quality service and strive to place smiles on people’s faces in times of need, celebration, hardships and love! Stay safe, calm, use this time of reﬂection wisely, we will survive, we will conquer and we will regroup, rebuild and repair!

Saying goodbye to 2019

It’s been 8 months since I embarked on a life-long dream of working daily with flowers! Having qualified as a Chef in 1994, and having spent 22 years working in kitchens abroad and locally, I was privileged enough so spend a great length of time in the African bush working, teaching, consulting and training at various game lodges within South Africa and our neighbouring countries. I was always aware of the synergy between food, the ingredients and the natural beauty of my surroundings. I have always had a huge interest in trees, wild grasses, vibrant colours of wild flowers, especially after the first rains of the season!

Jumping into Jean’s shoes, I felt rather overwhelmed and at times rather “panicked” about my decision to do so. I have been so well supported by my friend and mentor Jean, the amazing staff at Aspen, the incredible suppliers and the lifetime clients of Aspen! The ongoing support and encouragement of my wonderful family and friends, Aspen clients old and new!

From myself and all the staff at Aspen, thank you for your support. We wish you a very blessed festive season and prosperity for 2020.

WHAT IS IN STORE FOR 2020?

Aspen will re-open on Tuesday, 7 January 2020. We are planning to add a variety of new designs to our beautiful range of customised bouquets and arrangements.
Our indoor plant shop has grown tremendously, and we are looking at a few exciting options in terms of plant rentals, new containers, weekly watering and care of plants installed by Aspen.
We have extended our large variety of unique and stylish vases and will continue to do so in order to offer a unique visual experience for each and every function.
We will have dedicated consultants to focus on each function and wedding enquiry to ensure a bespoke service is achieved!
We have a dedicated receptionist, Nyasha for all daily orders and enquiries.

Stefan and Albie Wed!

This was by far our show stopper towards the end of last year’s wedding and event season. We couldn’t have asked for a better way to end off our floral journey for the year. The epitome of the ultimate floral project – from a super talented coordinator – Elizabeth from BonTon, to supported lighting and furniture from Johan at In and Out Events to absolutely incredible clients. Stefan and Albie’s abode served as ideal intimate setting for their wedding. Their home was already beautifully capsulated with a unique design aesthetic. Our floral expertise allowed us to further extend the character of their home. Don’t get us the wrong… The brief was quite specific, yet within the strict black outlines there was also a lot, and we mean a lot of room to play around… OTT was the name of the game. So the build up began, first enter the disco balls, then blooms began to rekindle our tired souls – masses of greenery (from petite apple branches to magnolia), kangaroo paw, hydrangeas, wall street roses, glads, stargazer lilies, aliums, artichokes, tulips, not to mention the seasonal fruit and plenty of candlelight.And then the day arrived, although the wall installation of a series of floral displays would be the bloom feature of the day, guests were enticed in every corner of this home. With each space echoing a different atmosphere; from an suspended arrangement in the shower to cascading display in the bath. This is surely one intimate wedding that we will continue to look back on.
